Can it be??!!. That's right it's..
Yes, you just get the boat in the water and now you need to think about protecting it in case a storm makes it's way up North. Luckily for us, we've been spared in dealing with very large dangerous storms. Although, it's always better to be over prepared then scrambling for last minute prep. Here are some helpful tips:
1. Check your boat and remove and/or store any item that could blow off prior to any kind of storm. Inluding: Canvas, sails, cushions, fishing gear, life jackets, flags, supplies etc...
2. Extra lines are a must.
3. Make sure batteries are charged and automatic bilge pumps are working.
4. Remove any dock box and store it on your boat or take it home.
5. CHECK ON YOUR BOAT AFTER A STORM HAS PASSED AND IT IS SAFE TO DO SO.
Here at Ram Point Marina, we are on a first come, first serve basis for storm haul outs for our current dock customers. When you call to put in a storm haul order, we will have important information before our phone menu is offered. This may answer lots of questions for our customers. The access road in to the yard will be closed off to any cars and traffic, as to not delay our staff from getting all boats needed out of the water before storm landfall. Please make preparations early to avoid running out of time. Check with your insurance as some companies will pay for a haul out at, or by a certain time.
